Pastor Josh Van engen

Head Pastor

I took up the call to ministry at Christ Community Church on June 25, 2017, and have never looked back. I have a wonderful wife, Anne, and four incredible sons, Justin, Josiah, Isaiah, and Elijah.

I grew up in a small rural community of Inwood, Iowa. In my younger years, I dreamed of working in a greenhouse and floral design like my uncle George. I graduated from Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with an Associates Degree in horticulture and a certificate in floral design and finally landed in Alexandria, MN.

After a couple years, God’s call into pastoral ministry became undeniable. Truthfully, he had been calling me into pastoral ministry for some time, but I had been trying to ignore it. With great reluctance, I left Alexandria, MN and made my way to Sioux Center, IA to attend Dordt College (it wasn’t a university in those days). At Dordt, I earned a B.A. in theology. After that, I attended Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, where I earned a Master of Divinity on May 19, 2012.

Josh Aschenbach

Worship Leader

My name is Josh, and I’ve been the Worship Leader at Christ Community Church since 2023. I’m married to my best friend, Sam, and we’re blessed with three kids—Hosanna, Eden, and Archie. I attended Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, MI, and later graduated from Crown College in the Twin Cities.

I’ve been involved in leading worship since I first picked up the drums in middle school, and I haven’t stopped since. Over the years, the Lord has only deepened my passion for worship and my belief that music often serves as the “tip of the spear” for transformational encounters with our living God. There’s nothing quite like the kind of surrender that happens when we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Walls come down, and lives are changed when the Body of Christ lifts one voice in declaring that God is great and greatly to be praised.

A little more about me: I grew up in the Sheboygan area and have always loved everything that makes this region unique. I’m a big Wisconsin sports fan, and Sam and I watch just about every Brewers game each season. My perfect day is simple: spending time with my family, grilling brats, and playing cards or a board game while watching the game.
